A Winter's Treat
It was a Homer-Simpson moment as I blissfully napped dreaming of donuts…
Strawberry, chocolate, all-dressed...
Then reality bit me on the butt when my dog, DJ, bit me on the butt and barked, “Walk me. Now!”
Outside a blizzard raged. Temperature: 40 below frostbite.
But when a dog’s gotta go, it’s gotta go.
SFX: Dog barking.
2000 steps, I rationalize, while donning my winter garb, teeth already chattering, nose running, buns clenched tight -- house key secured.
Sun, snow or rain, the call of the wild harkens and it's sooo annoying. Onward ho — the northern clime is not for the faint of heart, (unless you can afford a condo in Florida).
I endure the elements, weather the storm.
I seek no glory, ask not for reward.
Unlike DJ, who demands his reward, a delectable Meadys treat—energizing, life-affirming.
A savoury nugget of minced lamb, freshly hand-rolled, mixed with nature’s garden bounty. Chock full of nutrition, bursting with flavour.
DJ licks his bewhiskered lips and we lock eyes.
It's a Meadys' moment that doesn’t get any better than that.
It doesn’t get any better.
