Dogs Need a Pack Leader
I'll tell you one thing. Dogs aren't Democrats, Putin is more their style.
Canis lupus familiaris understands one thing above all: the Alpha rules.
When a powerful alpha male leads the pack, they are in equilibrium. Without him, they are lost.
That's just the way it is.
The biggest mistake some dog-owners make is to humanize their pets. They cater to Fido's every desire, effectively abdicating their own roles as the default Alpha.
This is in essence the theme of Cesar Millan's show, the Dog Whisperer. Fortunately, it's not hard to rehabilitate your bratty pooch. A firm, no-nonsense approach coupled with a good dose of patience and treats is all you need to correct the situation. Just watch a few episodes of Cesar and you'll understand what I mean.
One thing though: never mistreat your dog. Firmness does not mean unfairness. If you are consistent and even-handed with your dog, your actions will be rewarded with obedience.
You don't need to have Putin superpower to get your dog to behave, you just have to be in charge. And anyone can do that.
